My Compaq computer: Repair or replace?
I have a Compaq Presario S 3100 NX, bought in early 2004, I think. It has had on off problems in the past, but I thought my local tech had fixed them a few months ago. It's been fine until today.I also need a sound card, as speakers and moving images such as You Tube freeze up when I play them. However, it's not been that important to me to replace the sound card yet .I have Windows XP installed. Problem The computer shuts down right in the middle of something. It's very difficult to get it to work again. I have tried taking out the power cord, waiting, giving it a kick in the side discipline , etc. etc.Sometimes it will come back on for a few seconds, then blackness. Sometimes I get hours of work done like now but then it suddenly shuts down.Does it sound like it's worth repairing? A friend said it sounds like a power supply problem, and those are replaceable. New computers are expensive.... so I'll repair if it seems worth the money. Thanks everyone.
