Why does my laptop freeze if I boot with the network connected to it?

Selnyk asked: If I try and boot with the network disconnected it boots up fine. I can even plug the network in after it boots and it works fine. If it boots with the network connected it stalls at either the login screen or the “retrieving computer settings” screen. Any ideas? [...]
