how do you keep your registry clean or suggestions for a good registry cleaner?

I have a Rogue Pop.can virus and purchased PCDoctors to clean it up, but, I know very little about the
Registry. My computer is running slow on start up and email is like a turtle now.

Registry stays clean if you do clean installs and uninstalls.
When uninstalling use Revo Uninstaller so it removes any other leftover info the app might leave (that includes registry entries)

Use ccleaner, good disk cleaner, comes with a registry cleaner too (not that good, but it detects the unnecessary registry clutter)

do you do disk defragmentations? (Auslogics Disk Defrag)

Antivirus, i recommend nod32 for paid ones, and Avira or Avast for free, don’t forget downloading MalwareBytes, free version will do just enough.

Ccleaner, formerly known as crap cleaner, is a very safe and widely used cleaner, for the registry, it will back up the items removed , so if you have an issue, you can put them back in. Free tool, get it here. http://download.cnet.com/ccleaner/
You may want to use a free malware scanner. http://www.malwarebytes.org/mbam.php
If still having issues. use a free spyware scanner. http://download.cnet.com/SuperAntiSpyware-Free-Edition/3000-8022_4-10523889.html

Tweak you OS using another free tool, you may have too many processes running on start up. I use this one. http://www.blackviper.com/ ~
