My DVD+/-RW drive disappeared when I downloaded Avast last week, & I deleted the “infected” files. I didn’t know I wasn’t supposed to delete them. Evidently, the D:\ drive was “infected”. I also didn’t know that I was supposed to click REPAIR & then if they can’t be repaired, I have to QUARANTINE. A computer tech told me that’s the reason why my DVD drive is corrupted/damaged. I tried to do what he told me by going to the Dell website (I have Dell Inspiron 6000) & re-installing the driver. I don’t know what I’m doing wrong.

How do I get my D drive back? How do I repair the secondary IDE channel? It’s under the IDE ATA/ATAPI Controllers in the Hardware Device Manager.
