What is a free, trustworthy registry cleaner?

I downloaded what I thought was a completely free registry cleaner last night… turns out it was a trial. I don’t have any money to spend, and I have enough crap wrong with my computer already, so I’m looking for a FREE and TRUSTWORTHY registry cleaner. Any *good* free anti-spyware/malware/virus programs are appreciated as well.

I want to download a good free registry cleaner for my computer which uses Windows XP. CCleaner has a trojan in it and others cost money. I’m using Eusing free registry cleaner but I wanna know if there are other ones out there that I don’t have to pay for to use.

Do these Registry optimizers and repairers really speed up the computer?

They cost anywhere from .95 to .95 or more. Some of them claim to have found 500 errors on my computer.(Did they really find this many?)
Is it worth the money, or are there free registry cleaners that will find and repair the same 500 errors?

I’m looking for a freeware program to scan and fix my Windows XP registry. I’ve downloaded 2 programs that looked free, but both scanned my system and asked me to pay money to fix it. Is there a program that will do this that is freeware? If so, where can I get it?
